Have you ever collected something, then gotten rid of it, only to miss it later?
I have done this a few times.
The collection I am rebuilding now is of Grace Livingston Hill books. I am hoping to collect them all, the old ones not the 1990s remakes. I got rid of a decent sized collection years ago, and I still miss those books! True her writing is not politically correct for now days, but then in some ways neither am I.

Another collection I still have, but I got rid of some items, and now realize I did like them. Maybe its not that I like them, but that my mom liked them and I feel badly I got rid of them…
I add to this collection on and off as the mood strikes, then I downsize it in the same way.

In other news from the home front, Thursday I got the letter from the dr that my tests confirm I am indeed cancer free, for 6 months. I go back in 6 months for my next recheck. He did say I am over doing, and I need to listen more to my body when it tells me to rest. That is the hard part. After so many years of forcing activity, I just do not know how not to push on. I really over did it this week and have spent last night and to day weak and queasy.
My schedule will be full until the first of the new year, but I do plan to take some down time as it become available, I will try to take a few extra days off in November to get ready for the holiday rush.
That is the update, now back to researching Grace Livingston Hill and looking for books on Laura Ingalls Wilder. I heard of one that is a book of her essays from the Farm paper she wrote for…
Until next time, hugs y’all!

I really try to limit my book collecting to ones I plan to read over and over.
My main sets are the Anne Books, the Little House sets (I am really picky on these, I do NOT want the abridged editions!) and the Jannette Oke books, though my fave is the first in the LCS series.
I didn't think I would reread the GLH books, but I think of certain ones over and over and wish I had them again!

Wow! I am so glad to hear that your tests came out well! PTL, for HE is good!

I really don't "collect" anything (unless you consider dust a collection! LOL) I think I am too cheap to do so. I love antique kerosene lanterns and have several. The last 2 were gifts as my parents have figured out my love for them. Maybe, in time, I'll do more to collect more of these. Until then, I am satisified with the possessions that I own and am quite honestly, trying to pare down!

Praise the Lord that you are cancer free! :) He is good indeed!

I don't know that I've ever really collected anything and then gotten rid of it, and missed it later. The Grace Livingston Hill books sound like a neat thing to collect. I didn't realize that they had reprinted them. I have a few I bought at a library sale.

I had no idea they had abridged Laura Ingalls Wilder's books! Do you mean the story books they came out with a while back? Or the regular books?! I am so shocked. I read the boys the set I had when I was little, and then they re-read them in probably 4th grade or so. I never bought them their own set, because...well, they are boys...I figured I'd do that when they had daughters.

I have read the book of essays you are talking about. My sister has it. I can't remember the title right now, but it is so good! Let me know if you need the title!

They decided not to mess with Laura's books, but the ones written about her Ma and such growing up have been abridged. I dislike it, its like telling our kids they are to stupid to grasp them as originally written.
I would love the title of the book, I know there are a few, i have... Letters from Home i think and antoehr but i forget what its called.

i didn't even know there was books on her ma growing up, i haven't read them in avery long time and since i have boys, the opportunity never came up top read them to my children. i will have to look at reading that series.

I collected Little House books and I have gotten rid of a few of the My First Little House Books which I wish I hadn't now just because they are so cute! I have some My First Little House board books but my nearly seven year old dd won't let me get rid of them. Anyway, if it's related to Laura Ingalls, I'll buy it if it at a reasonable price.
